Truth about Abs and Nutrition
One thing that people often notice when they see workout guides is that most of these fitness regimens focus on the exercises. Sometimes, people go as far as pushing the body to the limit because they think by doing that, they will be able to get faster results. They also do all sorts of crunches and sit ups just because they think this will maximize the benefits they are getting from their workout regimen. These individuals obsess with every kind of mid-section training exercises hoping that by the end of the session, they will have that flat and sexy tummy or get those rock hard six pack abs they always see on TV. Most of these fitness routines just focus on what the body is doing and just concentrate on the external benefits of a well-toned mid-section. This is not bad in itself. By doing such exercises, one actually helps the body develop a stronger mid-section and a more stable well-balanced core muscle that will aid them in correcting their posture and in supporting their overall weight. However, what these fitness guides miss and fail to understand is that the body is not a machine that, if used every day, would become more efficient eventually. The body is composed of muscles and these muscles are composed of tissues. These tissues need to be nourished, too. Otherwise, they would not be able to sustain the strain that these intense workouts cause to the body. Without proper nutrition, the body will not function well and this will result to the muscles not being developed properly.
This is what Mike Geary has pointed out in his book entitled Truth about Abs. In this famous and highly recommended guide, he said that the body also needed to be nourished so that it will still be able to benefit from the muscle development exercises it is being made to do. Without nourishment, the muscle tissue will not be able to repair itself and the muscles, in return, will be weak. Therefore, no matter how hard one trains, he or she will not get that far with their workout routine because they will be continually bothered by muscle pains and other effects of lack of physical nourishment. This is extremely difficult especially for athletes who are training for a game or series of tournaments. Athletes know that in order to perform well, they need to eat foods rich in protein because protein is needed by the body to restore and maintain the proper functioning of muscle tissues. Protein is a nutrient which is made up of amino acids, commonly referred to as the building blocks of a living tissue. Mike Geary, who is a nutrition expert, knows this very well.
